Chinese Villa Game

It was my first time playing here.

The place was inside a large villa. Very high ceiling. Two tables running.

I was seated at the bigger game.

100 / 200 / 400 (500).
N+3 format. No squid tonight.

The table itself was pretty grand. The chairs were extremely comfortable, almost like those big presidential office chairs.

Every cup holder had wet tissue stuffed inside acting as ash trays. Someone was almost always smoking.

One strange thing they did here.

When you are the dealer button, they give you a transparent cup with a dice inside. You shake it and whatever number comes out, the dealer burns that many cards before dealing.

It’s their way of preventing cheating.

Also… the dealer had massive tits.

Just saying.

There was one guy with a massive stack. Probably around 1 million.

He was opening hands like K5o and A8o UTG to 8k.

Very aggressive.

Non-stop chewing binglang and smoking.

At some point the table started guessing his age. Everyone thought he was around 34 or 35.

Turns out he was born in 1998.

So that became his nickname.

The first real hand I played against him was this one.

He gave off some sizing tells and I decided to play my nut flush draw aggressively.

He tank folded.

When I showed the hand he looked a little tilted and said he had KJ or something like that.

You could feel the temperature of the table go up a little.

Not long after we clashed again.

Honestly this hand is not well played by me.

But after watching him for a while I felt he was just full of shit.

He looked like the type who raises all his Ax from any position, unless he has a trap like AK or AA.

The line he took and the sizing he used just didn’t look like those hands to me.

So I called him down.

The table got excited when we showed.

Some people even started telling him:

“Tonight you met your match.”

You could tell his ego was triggered.

Of course if he tabled value here I would just look like a complete idiot.

But since it worked, everyone thought it was genius.

Honestly I’m not even proud of it.

After that hand I realised something.

Maybe it’s not good to pull moves like this too early.

I might not get invited again 😆

But then again…

I’m here to write stories.

And if I just play safe all night, there wouldn’t be much of a story.

There was another player at the table.

Probably one of the hosts. Maybe a friend of 1998.

This guy was in his 50s.

Skinny. Slightly haggard looking. Like someone who hasn’t slept for two days.

He would squint his eyes when looking at the flop.

And he clearly didn’t like me very much.

I think the earlier hands got on his nerves.

At that point it felt pretty clear who the two villains of the night were.

  1. And the old man.

Then the old man showed me this hand.

When I saw it I thought to myself:

Oh boy… tonight is going to be fun.

Later this hand happened.

I think this was actually a good fold.

I tanked for quite a long time.

He already had squid and knowing this reg, if he was bluffing he would happily show it and slam the bluff in my face.

Instead he looked a little disappointed.

I think this fold tilted both 1998 and the boss even more.

After that I had to play quite passively for a while.

But the tension at the table was already there.

After this hand both 1998 and the old man were clearly tilted with me.

At one point 1998 3-bet my 3k UTG open with 86o from out of position to 26k.

The game was getting hot.

Even though he was aggressive, I could tell he was also a bit scared of me now.

There was one hand he played very strangely against me.

https://pokerbankrolltracker.net/replayer/617696

I showed and won the hand.

He hammered the table and showed me he had a J too.

Then the old man gave me a little present.

Throughout the night I actually paid quite a lot of squid.

Probably 6 or 7 rounds.

But the session still ended:

The table got very emotional tonight.

Egos clashing.
People trying to prove something.

Those are always the best games.

Looking back, maybe I pushed the table a little too early.

But sometimes that’s how these stories begin.

I would rate this game 8/10.

And something tells me the war with 1998 and the old man is far from over.

I can’t wait for Part 2.

GG.

Game Rating: 8/10
